Se spune că hernia de disc şi spondiloza cervicală sunt bolile omului modern. Atât, spondiloza, cât şi hernia de disc sunt tot mai des întâlnite.
În cazul spondilozei cervicale, simptomele sunt adesea raportate la vârste cuprinse între 20 şi 50 de ani, iar peste 80% dintre persoanele cu vârsta peste 40 de ani prezintă spondiloza în studiile efectuate cu radiografii.
În cazul herniei de disc, aceasta este una dintre afecţiunile comune asociate coloanei vertebrale şi poate să apară în orice zonă a acesteia, însă cele mai frecvente forme sunt cele de la nivelul inferior al coloanei – zona lombara şi cele de la nivelul gâtului – cervical.
Cu o lungime medie de 71 de cm în cazul bărbaţilor şi de 61 de cm în cel al femeilor, coloana vertebrală este structura articulară osoasă, localizată posterior-median, sub forma unui tub ce se întinde de la baza craniului până la structura bazinului.
Trebuie spus că, în fiecare zi şi, de-a lungul anilor, corpurile noastre sunt supuse la mult stres ce duce la schimbarea diferitelor structuri ale coloanei vertebrale.
În ambele situaţii, este important să mergi la controale medicale regulate şi să ţii cont de recomandările medicilor atât pentru a putea preveni apariţia unor afecţiuni, cât şi pentru a gestiona eficient manifestările celor deja existente.
Simptomele herniei de disc depind, pe de-o parte, de locul in care se afla discul herniat, adica in zona lombara sau cervicala, si pe de alta parte, de presiunea creata asupra unui nerv. Sunt cazuri in care o persoana poate sa nu stie ca are hernie de disc, pentru ca este asimptomatica. Manifestarile curente ale unei hernii de disc pot include:
- durere la nivelul braţelor sau picioarelor
- amorţeală sau furnicături
- slăbiciune
Dacă mergem la medicul specialist şi suntem diagnosticaţi cu hernie de disc trebuie să ştii că respectarea schemei de tratament indicată pot ţine sub control evoluţia herniei de disc, fără să fie nevoie de intervenţii chirurgicale.
În ceea ce priveşte, spondiloza cervicala, majoritatea persoanelor afectate nu au simptome specifice, cel puţin în prima fază a bolii. Cele mai frecvente simptome sunt durerea din jurul omoplatului şi, în cazurile mai grave, amorţeala braţelor, iar durerea devine mai puternică atunci când stai în picioare sau jos, strănuţi sau tuşeşti, mişti capul în faţă, spate sau în părţile laterale.
