Trandafirul copac sau trandafirul pomișor a fost descoperit în urmă cu mai bine de 100 de ani. În țara noastră a devenit cunoscut relativ recent, însă de la an la an și se bucură de tot mai multă popularitate, mai ales datorită aspectului inedit.
Trandafirii cu port înalt sunt deseori întâlniți în grădinile și parcurile francezilor, fiind considerați deosebit de frumoși și atrăgători, datorită coroanei care înflorește abundent. Trandafirii pomișor aduc o notă elegantă oricărei grădini și pot fi folosiți atât în delimitarea aleilor cât și în grupuri de plante. Dacă sunt plantați în ghivece, trandafirii altoiți în trunchi pot fi folosiți pentru a decora și ușa de acces în casă.
Este important de știut însă că trandafirii pomișor sunt mai greu de întreținut decât toate celelalte varietăți de trandafir, fiind mult mai sensibili la ger, boli și la atacul dăunătorilor.
Aspectul caracteristic de arbore mic al acestei specii este obținut prin grefarea unei varietăți horticole pe o tulpina portaltoi (în general de măceș). Tulpina măsoară 1,2 m sau chiar mai mult. În funcție de varietatea obținută prin selecție, se obține un trandafir cu flori mari sau cu flori în buchete.
Se stabilește întâi înalțimea pe tijă, unde se dorește efectuarea altoiului, de acolo se mai lasă încă 2 muguri deasupra și se efectuează tăierea.
